10 Things I wish Someone Told Me Before I Started Blogging

But why no one told me..

So, I started WordPress blogging in December 2019, but I have always enjoyed writing and journaling. JAARA is my personal blog- Sharing my thoughts, helping others through my experiences, and building a community of friends are constant motivators for why I blog. Starting a blog, developing a website, and producing posts take time.

But I have to tell you, there’s so much I wished someone shared with me prior to starting my blogging on WordPress.

Here’s 10 Things I wish I knew

  1. Support comes from the people you least expect-One of the things that came as a surprise after I started blogging was how difficult it is to have my friends/ acquaintances read my blog post or follow. At times I felt disappointed, however, I realized that forcing my dreams on my friends was not okay. I realized that when I Believe in myself first. Others will follow my lead.
  2. Consistency is key– but consistency varies for each blogger and their audience. Try not to compare yourself to others.
  3. Writer’s block is real.
  4. You get excited for EVERY new post
  5. Anxiousness follows after a post- It’s not uncommon to find myself checking on your post, wondering if others also resonate with your message, or share the same thoughts as you do.
  6. Success doesn’t come in a day!!
  7. Learning SEO is beneficial. Spend time learning SEO and keyword planner. I am learning theses skills now, but wish I knew more before I started.
  8. Not everyone will agree with your perspective or narrative
  9. Many will offer advice as an “expert” – I started on Clubhouse recently, and I noticed everyone offers blogging advice. One thing I’ve learned that is important is not to allow others to overwhelm you with their advice. Allow your voice to be heard and express how you are feeling
  10. Support other bloggers– I try my best to go around and read other blogger’s post each day. Building long-term community and friendships though blogging will also help to promote your blog.

Are there anything you’ve learned about blogging you wish someone told you prior to starting?
